Never a truer statement spoken as we trudged out of the Stožice Stadium on Sunday night! Members from the DTA headed in to Ljubljana via Italy, Croatia and Germany full of hope following the 1-0 victory in the dying minutes at Hampden on Thursday night over Slovakia, and destiny was in our hands - even more so after Belgium's 4-3 victory over Bosnia - Win, and we were in the playoffs!
Unfortunately, it fell back on the glorious failure we've all become far too accustomed to since our last appearance at a tournament in 1998. 1-0 up at half time quickly turned in to 2-1 down, and a late Robert Snodgrass equaliser wasn't enough. Once again, we miss out by the skin of our teeth, and upon returning home there will be questions asked on Gordon Strachans future as manager. Another match where we return and utter the phrase - Great Trip.... Crap Result!
